The community of Braybrook is geographically bordered by Ashley Street, Duke Street, the Maribrynong River, the Sunbury railway line and Sunshine Road. Once thought of as primarily an industrial suburb, this is now slowly changing to incorporate new warehouse conversions and town housing developments.
The Braybrook Community Centre, in the heart of Braybrook, offers children’s facilities, crafts, English as a second language (ESL), occasional care, computer and Internet facilities, playgroups, health and well-being classes and financial counselling. There is also a large community garden featuring sculptures and strawbale/mudbrick buildings. The Western Region Community Health Centre is housed within the centre and offers general medical practitioners, optometry, physiotherapy, podiatry, social work, occupational therapists, speech pathology for children, pharmaceutical program and a women’s and children’s health nurse.
A few shopping precincts are dotted around including Central West Plaza and Braybrook Plaza plus retail outlets along South Road, Churchill Avenue and Ballarat Road.
With close proximity to the Maribrynong River Trail, commuting to the city can be an enjoyable journey on bike. If cycling is not an option, the train stations of Tottenham and Sunshine are near by.
